16 Ways to Strengthen your Faith even while the World Continues to Remove God from Everything
We see it on the news, on social media, in newspapers, public schools, television shows, movies, music, emails, and in the actions and words of our friends, family, and neighbors. We see the selfish desires of this world and the destruction caused by people who don’t respect life or God.
And we are constantly seeing the results of what happens when the world continues to remove God from everything.
We’re seeing the destruction that is happening around us. We’re seeing the terrible actions people choose to make when they want to satisfy their own flesh and don’t care about God. And we’re beginning to see the future many of us have been concerned about, now unfolding in front of our eyes.
We’re seeing Christians around the world being persecuted for their faith. We’re see atheists attack Christians on social media just for expressing their faith. And we’re seeing sin being widely accepted as normal. It’s a sad and disheartening reality.
There have been times when I just want to ignore the direction this country is heading; and to ignore God’s calling. Because let’s be honest, it seems like no one else is listening to God, how would it make a difference if I listened to Him?
To those of you who may feel this way as well, let me ask you, what if Moses had ignored God’s direction? He freed over 600,000 people from slavery with God’s help. Or what if Mary had aborted her sweet baby instead of listening to God and His plan?
Things would have turned out very different. And these are just two examples of why it’s important to listen to what God is calling you to do.
But listening to God while the world is ignoring Him isn’t always an easy thing to do.
So what can you do to strengthen your faith even while the world continues to remove God from everything?
1) Read your Bible.
What better way to understand God’s love, mercy, and instruction than by reading the Bible? Here are some Bible verses to help you look to God instead of the world.
On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. ~1 Thessalonians 2:4
Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! ~Acts 5:29
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ~Galatians 2:20
This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” ~Jeremiah 17:5-8
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” ~1 Samuel 16:7
You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. ~Romans 14:10-12
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. ~1 John 2:15-17
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. ~Romans 12:2
2) Surround yourself with people who will strengthen your faith instead of ridicule it.
Obviously, people who ridicule your faith, and try to turn you against God, aren’t the type of people you want to be around.
Instead, place yourself in the company of good men and women who love God as much as you.
3) Go to church.
Church is a wonderful place to surround yourself with people who love God just as much as you. It’s a place to worship and praise. A place to be uplifted; and a place to strengthen your faith and relationship with God.
And it’s important to get involved with your church. Help with projects, volunteer for events, go with your church when serving the community, join groups within the church, etc.
4) Follow groups and pages on social media that will strengthen your faith.
When I see nothing but negativity and sin throughout the world, those positive articles and quotes will show up and remind me that God is in control.
5) Focus on God and not the world.
Reflect on the Bible verses mentioned in #1. Stand on the truth.
6) Don’t accept sin just because society has.
Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it. And right is right, even if no one is doing it.
Stay close to God’s word and don’t give in to the wrongs that are widely accepted by society.
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” ~Psalm 119:11
7) Surround yourself with Christian films, songs, blogs, and books.
Support Christian filmmakers, bloggers, singers, and authors by purchasing their products, providing good reviews, and praying for the people behind the scenes.
Watch Christian films with your family to bring you all closer to God and each other. You can listen to Christian music while at home, in the car, and at work. And read Christian books, Bibles, and devotionals that will strengthen your faith. As a result, you’ll develop a deeper relationship with God.
8) Spend some time away from social media.
Spend time with God and His word. Spend time with your family. And spend time doing positive things for others.
Social media can be full of sin, negativity, and sadness. So once in a while, take a break and do things that strengthen your faith.
9) Don’t be bullied into losing your faith in God.
Christians, it’s time to stand up. It’s time to show the world we won’t be walked on. Instead, we need to show them that we stand together and we will continue to stand firm in our faith.
Remember, the only one who can make you give up your faith in God, is you. Again, stand in the truth!
10) Follow these tips to help you find time for God when your schedule is overwhelming.
11) Get into nature.
Every time I’m in the mountains or near the ocean, I can’t help but think of God’s majesty and power. It’s incredible, and far beyond our comprehension, what He did to create this universe. And He created each and every one of us in His image. Be proud of that!
Pray for guidance, peace, and understanding.
And pray for those who hurt you.
Let’s pray for this world and this country.
And let’s pray for our leaders and our schools.
Strengthen your faith by using your time and resources to help others. Serve others as Jesus served.
Share your love and kindness with people who need it.
14) Support Christian stores.
By supporting small and large Christian businesses, you’re helping to keep God in the lives of others. Some Christian stores include:
Family Christian Stores
ServiceMaster (Terminix and Merry Maids)
Lifeway Christian Stores
15) Do your best to stop thinking negatively. Read this article for help to eliminate negative thinking!
16) Remember, everything in this life is temporary; even the pain and criticism.
So don’t take people’s rude remarks or actions against you too seriously. Respond to them with kindness and move on. You don’t need their negativity in your life anyway.
Instead focus on God and pray for them. Take comfort in knowing, the truth often sounds like hate, to those who hate the truth. And keep in mind that many times, the person who needs love the most, is the person who deserves it the least.
17) Strengthen your children’s faith by homeschooling or sending them to a Christian school.
I realize this can’t be a reality for every Christian family. But you will see God work through your children in amazing ways if you can do one of those two options.
It’s been shown that children who are homeschooled or attend a Christian school, have more faith throughout their lives. They are also more likely to serve their community more often and make better choices.
No matter what type of school they attend, pour your faith and love into them! That is what will make the biggest difference.
Although it can be difficult to strengthen your faith even while this world continues to remove God from everything, by following these tips and applying God’s word to your life, it’ll become easier.
God wants a relationship with all of us, but we have to let Him in. If we all turn our backs on God, how can He help us? If no one listens to His words and directions, how can we move forward in the way He has planned?
And remember, the more you’re surrounded by God’s love and light, the less hurt you’ll feel when people make rude remarks or actions against you. Don’t ever forget, God is good, all the time & and all the time, God is good! 🙂
Truthfully, this nation is in need of hope, light, direction, and discipline. And turning back to God is the first step we need to take. So, fellow Christians, it’s time to join together, stand tall, and strengthen our faith!
